Team Lead

We are hiring a Team Lead – Backend Services to join our R&D department. Full-time role based in Ra’anana, reporting to the VP of R&D.

Role Overview:

Lead the end-to-end development and evolution of cloud-based backend services while staying hands-on and guiding a small team. The role includes cloud service development, database architecture, internal/external API design, and supporting data tools for mobile apps, operations, and sales. You’ll collaborate closely with mobile, hardware, QA, and data teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable backend services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of backend services (Python, AWS Lambda).
• Design and manage scalable MongoDB (Atlas) data models.
• Build and maintain internal and external REST APIs.
• Develop data pipelines and tools enabling insights for sales, operations, and support teams.
• Mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and support future team growth.
• Collaborate with Architects and DevOps to ensure performance, security, and cost-efficient infrastructure.
• Work cross-functionally with mobile, product, QA, and hardware stakeholders.

Requirements:

• B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on backend development, including cloud-based services.
• Strong experience with Python, AWS Lambda, MongoDB/NoSQL, and REST API design.
• Proven leadership, mentoring, and end-to-end project ownership.
• Strong understanding of database design, indexing, performance tuning, and schema evolution.
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and system-design capabilities.
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with serverless architectures and broader AWS ecosystem (API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch).
• Familiarity with OAuth2, JWT, and secure API best practices.
• Experience with data pipelines or BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
• Exposure to mobile app integration and release cycles.
• Previous experience growing or managing a small team.
