At ServiceNow, we are transforming the way enterprises operate through innovative Agentic AI solutions, powering seamless and secure experiences. Our AI Security team is critical to ensuring our advanced AI, especially agentic AI systems, remains secure, safe, and trustworthy.

The AI Security group includes an engineering team led by an Engineering Lead, an AI team and an AI Security research lead whose role is to make sure ServiceNow is at the forefront of Agentic AI security.

Role

As our Staff Lead AI Security Researcher, you will spearhead security research efforts focused on research and AI security innovation while collaborating with the team on implementation of such technologies, such as advanced guardrails for securing ServiceNow’s Generative AI (GenAI) and agentic AI systems and initiatives for assessing and improving the security and safety of our AI models. Collaborating closely with the engineering and AI teams.

What You’ll Do

• Lead innovative AI security and safety research, particularly around GenAI and agentic AI.
• Contribute to industry-wide key AI security initiatives such as OWASP, MITRE ATLAS and others
• Work collaboratively with engineering teams and specialised security researchers to integrate security best practices into the AI development lifecycle.
• Provide expert insights on emerging threats and vulnerabilities unique to AI systems and propose effective mitigation strategies.
• Communicate research outcomes clearly, influencing technical and strategic decisions throughout the organisation.
• Actively contribute to thought leadership in the AI security domain, participating in internal and external presentations, research publications, and standards development.
  
  

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you have:

• 5+ years of experience in security research, AI/ML research, data science, or related fields, specifically with experience securing AI systems.
• Expertise in GenAI and GenAI Security
• Demonstrated success in identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities in AI systems, particularly involving large language models (LLMs) and agentic architectures.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to clearly articulate complex findings to technical teams, leadership, and external partners
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience leading research projects in corporate or academic environments.
• Published research or contributions to standards in AI security, safety, or responsible AI practices.
• Familiarity with OWASP LLM Top 10 and experience addressing vulnerabilities such as prompt injection, data poisoning, and adversarial attacks.
• Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
