Lead Field Engineer

Speedata is rewriting the rules of data infrastructure with the world’s first Analytics

Processing Unit (APU) — a revolutionary processor delivering massive acceleration for big

data workloads. As a Field Engineer based in Israel, you will join our elite SWAT team to

lead technical execution for global customer engagements.

You’ll design and execute high-impact POCs, benchmark performance, and collaborate

deeply with regional field engineers, R&D, and Product to shape how Speedata delivers

value to data-intensive organizations worldwide.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in big data performance, systems engineering, or solution architecture, including 2+ years in a leadership or team lead role.
• Deep expertise with Apache Spark internals, performance tuning, and workload optimization.
• Familiarity with Spark acceleration stacks (RAPIDS, Gluten, Velox).
• Strong knowledge of Parquet, ORC, Delta Lake, and Iceberg data formats.
• Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD systems for deployment and operations.
• Experience with distributed file systems (HDFS, S3).
• Proven success leading customer-facing technical teams with strong communication and executive presence.
• Fluent in English.
• Team-first mindset with a passion for technical depth, innovation, and customer success.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a global team of performance engineers focused on designing and executing POCs and benchmarks across industries and regions.
• Oversee collaboration with regional Field Engineers to ensure technical excellence and joint sales success.
• Drive analysis and optimization of Spark-based workloads (SQL, ETL) for the Speedata APU platform.
• Define and maintain reusable infrastructure for tuning, logging, and benchmarking.
• Guide the creation of tuning guides, best practices, and enablement materials for global field and customer teams.
• Own the technical feedback loop from customer use cases into product roadmap discussions.
• Represent the engineering team in global customer engagements, workshops, and technical escalations.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
