Cyber Threat Investigator

The Israel National Cyber Directorate is seeking an experienced Cyber Researcher.

The Cyber Researcher will conduct advanced research and analysis aimed at identifying, investigating, and mitigating cyber threats. The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams to collect, verify, and analyze data from diverse intelligence and open-source environments, including the Darknet and social media. The position requires a strong research orientation, deep technical understanding, and the ability to translate complex findings into clear, actionable reports.

• Location: Tel-Aviv, Israel

• Conduct daily reviews and research on active threat groups across the cyber landscape.
• Investigate attack infrastructures, threat actors, and emerging vulnerabilities.
• Perform OSINT and Darknet intelligence gathering related to organizations, incidents, and threat campaigns.
• Analyze social-media trends, breaking news, and other dynamic information sources.
• Cross-reference multiple data sources to ensure accuracy and validation of intelligence findings.
• Develop detailed research reports and participate in intelligence briefings.
• Design and execute penetration-testing and resilience-testing programs.
• Prepare and conduct manual and automated security assessments based on established methodologies.
• Develop and enhance automated tools for recurring research and analysis tasks.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to review systems prior to testing.
• Produce technical reports and remediation recommendations.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in at least two of the following areas:
• Forensic or network research
• Threat intelligence or attack-surface analysis
• Penetration testing and incident response
• Big Data-based cyber analytics
• Development of cybersecurity tools and research systems
• Network monitoring and vulnerability exploitation

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in a variety of cybersecurity systems, architectures, and protocols.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing environments.
• Familiarity with security standards and compliance frameworks.
