Business Unit Manager – Chemical Materials (Defense Sector)

About the Role

An international trading company specializing in chemical materials seeks an experienced Business Unit Manager to lead operations supplying Israel’s defense industry. The role combines strategic and hands-on management of procurement, logistics, imports, and sales, with full P&L responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and expand the chemical materials business unit, driving growth and profitability.
• Manage end-to-end supply chain – sourcing, importing, inventory, logistics, and delivery to defense customers.
• Develop supplier and manufacturer partnerships to secure supply, reduce costs, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Oversee customer relations with defense clients, aligning supply and technical needs.
• Set KPIs for sales, margin, inventory turnover , and delivery performance.
• Guide and mentor a multidisciplinary team (procurement, logistics, sales, accounting).
• Ensure adherence to trade, customs, and defense-sector compliance standards.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience managing an interdisciplinary team (procurement, logistics, sales, accounting) — minimum 5+ years in a managerial role preferred.
• Demonstrated track record of leading commercial activity and account management with Israeli defense industry customers.
• Strong experience and understanding of international trade and import operations (sourcing, shipping, customs, Incoterms, export controls).
• Solid business acumen with P&L responsibility and experience in sales growth and business development.
• Excellent English proficiency (written and spoken). Hebrew fluency preferred. Strong negotiation, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Chemistry, Supply Chain or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience with ERP Priority

Desirable

• Experience in chemical materials, raw materials or related technical products.
• Familiarity with defense procurement processes, security/industry standards and ability to obtain security clearances if required.
• Established supplier and customer network in relevant markets.
• MBA or advanced business qualification.
