Senior Platform Engineer

Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior or Principal Platform Engineer to take a leading role in shaping, scaling, and modernizing our cloud and infrastructure platform. The company already operates a substantial production environment, including Kubernetes, Kafka, ClickHouse, and data pipelines—but now needs a strong platform engineer to unify, standardize, and evolve the platform as the organization grows.

This role offers a rare opportunity to influence engineering direction at the highest level, work directly with leadership, and design the next generation of infrastructure that powers our applications, services, and internal engineering ecosystem.

Ideal candidates are hands-on builders who thrive on ownership, value clean architecture, and enjoy world-class platform engineering.

Job Requirements

Must-Haves

• 5+ years in Platform Engineering, SRE, or DevOps roles.
• Production experience running Kubernetes (EKS).
• Strong AWS background (IAM, VPC, EC2, EKS, S3, DynamoDB).
• Expert-level Terraform & IaC best practices.
• Experience with GitLab CI, GitOps, and ArgoCD.
• Hands-on with Prometheus, Grafana, and modern observability.
• Strong understanding of IAM, cloud security, and secrets management.
• Ability to work autonomously, own broad problem spaces, and deliver reliably.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with ClickHouse, Databricks, Spark, and Delta Lake.
• Kafka/MSK at scale.
• Multi-account AWS environments.
• OpenObserve / ELK / Loki.

Job Responsibilities

Platform Architecture & Operations

• Design, build, and operate production-grade Kubernetes (EKS) environments.
• Own GitOps workflows with ArgoCD and GitLab CI.
• Build tooling, templates, and “golden paths” that empower product teams.

Infrastructure as Code

• Build and maintain AWS infrastructure with Terraform.
• Create modular, reusable Terraform components and drive IaC standards across engineering.

Cloud Infrastructure & Governance

• Manage AWS accounts, IAM, VPCs, and core security boundaries.
• Implement secure authentication/authorization and secrets management best practices.

Observability

• Deploy and operate Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, and OpenObserve.
• Define metrics, logs, tracing (OpenTelemetry), and alerting pipelines.

Reliability & Operational Excellence

• Establish SLO/SLA practices, build runbooks, automate operations, and lead incident reviews.

Cost Management

• Monitor and optimize costs across AWS, Kubernetes, MSK, Databricks, and more.
• Provide transparent reporting and recommendations.

Cross-Team Enablement

• Work closely with product teams to ensure frictionless adoption of platform tools.
• Document standards, patterns, runbooks, and best practices.
