About this opportunity

As a Senior Optical Design Engineer, you will lead the development of ultra-compact, high-precision micro-optical systems for cutting-edge medical devices. You will transform novel optical concepts into manufacturable designs, driving innovation from prototype to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop optical systems and components for medical devices.
• Conduct simulations, tolerance analyses, and experimental validations to ensure optimal performance and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers—to integrate optical systems into complete product platforms.
• Develop and implement optical testing strategies to validate system performance and reliability.
• Analyse data from experiments and prototypes to refine and optimize optical designs.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality protocols.
• Document design processes, test results, and technical findings, and share insights to support innovation and continuous improvement.
  
  

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• 8+ years of relevant industry experience
• MSc or PhD in physics, optical sciences and/or equivalent engineering field
• Experience with at least one commercial optics simulation tools such as Zemax, Code V, Tracepro or equivalent.
• Programming experience using MATLAB, Python, or similar tools
• Familiarity with the design, simulation, optimization, sensitivity and tolerance analysis of complex free space optical systems
• Strong analytical and communication skills
