We are looking for a Backend & ML Team Lead who will own key parts of our platform, guide a strong engineering team, and help us scale a modern SaaS product that sits at the heart of healthcare operations.

What you will do

• Lead a backend engineering team, including ownership of delivery, quality, and technical direction.
• Design and evolve the system architecture for a multi tenant SaaS platform that must meet high reliability, performance, and security standards.
• Work closely with data, algo, and product teams to integrate models and optimization engines into robust backend services.
• Take an active hands on role in development, up to 50 percent of your time, including coding, code reviews, design reviews, and complex problem solving.
• Build and maintain scalable, observable, and secure backend infrastructure, including APIs, services, and data flows.
• Drive best practices in software engineering, such as testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and incident response.

What you bring

• 3+ years of experience as a team leader or tech lead managing and guiding development teams.
• Strong experience in SaaS startups, building and scaling backend services in production.
• Background in working with LLMs or AI models and integrating them into backend systems.
• Proven ability to take models from prototype to production, including performance and cost considerations.
• Experience working at large scale, including distributed systems, high throughput APIs, and data intensive workloads.
• Advantage: experience in digital health or other regulated domains.
• Willingness and passion to remain hands on up to 50 percent of the time, not just manage.
• Strong system architecture skills and the ability to design solutions for complex problems that must perform at scale.
• Proven track record building scalable backend infrastructure and leading teams in environments with constraints, uncertainty, and fast changing requirements.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable working with ambiguity, building processes from scratch, and adjusting course quickly.
