Senior Data Scientist / Generative AI Researcher

GigaSpaces is looking for a Senior Data Scientist / Generative AI Researcher to lead cutting-edge research and development of generative AI capabilities for enterprise use cases- particularly within real-time, low-latency environments. This is a strategic role with strong cross-functional impact on the future of our AI product roadmap.

This role is ideal for someone with a proven track record in applied machine learning and generative models, combined with experience in high-performance, security-conscious, and mission-critical environments.

The position is full time, hybrid, located in Herzliya Pituach.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of generative AI and LLM-based models tailored for enterprise data platforms.
• Apply advanced ML/DL techniques (e.g., transformers, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings) to real-world customer challenges.
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and solution architecture teams to integrate AI capabilities into our core platform.
• Conduct exploratory research, rapid prototyping, and contribute to patents or publications when applicable.
• Build internal benchmarks and evaluation frameworks to assess performance, latency, and security of deployed models.
• Stay current with academic and industry trends in generative AI, foundation models, and large-scale ML.

Must-Haves:

• Technical Excellence: Experience in high-performance, mission-critical technical environments (e.g., AI, data science, cybersecurity, or large-scale data analysis).
• Academic Background: B.Sc./M.Sc./Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.
• Industry Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning, with at least 2 years in generative AI or NLP.
• Strong coding skills in Python and familiarity with ML/AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, HuggingFace, etc.).
• Deep understanding of deep learning architectures, transformer models, embeddings, and neural network training techniques.
• Experience with high-scale data systems, data pipelines, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a talent for engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong MLOps experience to help build, deploy, and maintain machine learning models in production.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Background in elite technical environments – such as leading R&D teams in industry, academic research labs, or technological units in the IDF (e.g., Unit 8200, 81, Talpiot, Mamram) – an advantage.
• Experience with fine-tuning LLMs (e.g., LLaMA, Mistral, Falcon) or training foundation models from scratch.
• Publications or contributions to AI/ML open-source communities.
• Prior work on enterprise AI applications, especially in financial services, telecom, or defense sectors.
• Experience with real-time data processing systems (e.g., Kafka, Spark, or GigaSpaces InsightEdge).
