Backend Engineer (Mid-Level) – CoolAutomation
📍 Hybrid, Israel | 🕓 Full-time
About the Role
CoolAutomation, a global leader in HVAC IoT solutions, is seeking a Backend Engineer to help build and scale our cloud services that connect, monitor, and optimize HVAC systems worldwide. You’ll work on distributed systems that process large-scale telemetry data, enable smart automation, and power advanced analytics.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services in Node.js.
- Work with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis to design efficient data flows and models.
- Integrate and scale services within AWS (ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS/SNS).
- Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and data teams to deliver high-quality APIs and microservices.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best practices.
- Contribute to system monitoring, logging, and performance optimization using Elastic Stack and CloudWatch.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in backend development.
- Solid knowledge of Node.js, TypeScript, and RESTful API design.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or MongoDB, and familiarity with Redis caching.
- Understanding of cloud architecture and scalable service design.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in distributed environments.
Nice to Have
- Experience with ClickHouse or other analytical databases.
- Familiarity with IoT, device telemetry, or message queues (SQS/SNS).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
