About the Role

At LAYA, we’re looking for a Data Platform Engineer to join our growing Data team within the R&D Department.

In this role, you’ll contribute to the development and maintenance of our Databricks-based Data Warehouse, built in Python, which collects and processes data from multiple systems and serves as the foundation for our Retool environment - where this data is accessed, visualized, and used to power internal tools across the company.

You’ll work on data pipelines, modeling, integrations, and platform reliability, while also leading the development and maintenance of the Retool environment. Together with a strong and collaborative team, you’ll help drive business visibility and automation throughout the organization.

What You’ll Work On

• Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines in Databricks using Python, Spark, and SQL.

• Collaborate with the team to ensure our Databricks and Retool environments are stable, performant, and scalable.

• Design and refine data models to deliver clean, reliable, and accessible data.

• Build and maintain Retool internal tools that visualize and operationalize data from Databricks.

• Integrate and unify data from multiple systems to support analytics and automation across LAYA.

• Collaborate with from various teams to design data-driven solutions that scale.

What You Bring

• 2-3 years of experience as a Data Platform Engineer, Data Engineer, or similar role.

• Proven experience with Databricks or equivalent data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Spark, BigQuery).

• 2+ years of hands-on development in Python and writing complex SQL queries.

• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and optimizing data performance.

• Understanding of REST APIs and data integration workflows.

• Familiarity with MongoDB and document-based data structures.

• Experience supporting production-grade data platforms and internal tools.

• Knowledge of Data Governance, CI/CD, and version control best practices.

• Familiarity with Retool or similar internal tool platforms - Advantage.

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field - Advantage.
