Group Lead

Position: Group Lead, Motion Planning & Decision-Making

Location: Haifa, Israel

SGF Global is hiring on behalf of one of our leading clients for an experienced Group Lead to join a cutting-edge R&D team in the field of autonomous systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of 10+ engineers, overseeing both technical and professional development.
• Define and execute the technical strategy for:
• Motion Planning & Decision-Making: Direct development of trajectory planning and contextual behavior algorithms.
• Localization: Guide creation of high-frequency, high-accuracy vehicle state estimation using advanced sensor fusion.
• Control: Oversee design and implementation of lateral and longitudinal control algorithms.
• Drive innovation through state-of-the-art AI, including transformers, VLMs, multi-agent prediction, trajectory optimization, and safety-aware systems.
• Lead mid-to-long-term R&D initiatives from research to deployment.
• Oversee large-scale data pipelines, including data collection, annotation, training, and validation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing technical R&D teams.
• M.Sc. (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related quantitative field from a top university.
• Hands-on experience in one or more areas: motion planning, decision-making, control theory, SLAM, sensor fusion, or machine learning.
• Strong proficiency in Python and C++ (code review level).
• Advantage: Proven experience leading multidisciplinary R&D in autonomous systems or robotics.
