Software Engineer II, Search Console WMX

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Experience with SQL and Flume.
• Proficiency with C++.

Search Console is the main channel to site owners to integrate with Google Search Engine. We provide tools that help the web ecosystem to monitor their search performance, and track their content availability on Google surfaces. We improve Google's search quality and assist websites to succeed on the web.

The Search Console team is responsible for the pipelines that process the search raw data (search session logs, indexing data, etc.). We also run user management, site ownership verifications (which is used by other teams in Google), and other BE tasks.

To do that, we need to solve complex engineering challenges and expand our infrastructure, while maintaining a universally accessible and useful experience that people around the world rely on. Responsibilities

• Write product or system development code. Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Develop scalable services and pipelines serving both internal and external users. Manage many services and pipelines, work on very large data, and oversee monitoring and dashboards.
