At the Academic Technologies Development office, we design, develop, maintain and support custom software solutions that enhance academic experience at GTIIT. Our flagship project is the Student Life-cycle Management System, managing all the core academic processes of the university, supporting students, faculty, administrators and management.

We are seeking a Senior Software Development Team Manager to lead our software engineering efforts and guide the continued development of the university’s core academic systems. This position combines technical excellence with strategic leadership, overseeing both greenfield innovation projects and brownfield modernization of existing systems and working with the parent university.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who can manage a small but high-performing team, define long-term technical directions, and collaborate across departments in a multicultural, international environment.

This position requires writing code.

Key Responsibilities:

Team & Project Leadership:

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with university goals.
• Provide strategic planning for covering all the needs of a fast-growing university with dynamic needs, aligning the management, departments and faculty needs into a clear office development roadmap.
• Plan, prioritize, and oversee multiple projects, ensuring on-time and on-scope delivery.
• Define and maintain technical standards, coding practices, and development workflows.
• Conduct performance reviews and identify team development and training opportunities.

Technical Oversight:

• Hands-on participation in the software development of the university core system with focus on its backend parts.
• Architect and design scalable systems and integrations across academic and administrative platforms in and out of GTIIT.
• Review and contribute to complex codebases, ensuring maintainability and performance.
• Oversee system reliability, security, and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and deployment processes.
• Balance strategic vision with hands-on technical contribution when needed.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Liaise with university management, IT, academic departments, administrative offices and Israel Technion to align project priorities.
• Translate institutional needs into technical requirements and roadmap deliverables.
• Represent the office in technology-related committees, presentations, and stakeholder meetings.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including at least 3 years in technical leadership or team management role.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, scalability, security, and agile methodologies, design patterns, and CI/CD pipelines.
• High proficiency in C# Dotnet and related frameworks is a must. Other web technology stacks such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and frameworks such as Django, React, or Vue are a plus.
• Hands on experience with RESTful APIs, databases and other backend technologies.
• Ensure code quality, robustness, and compliance with industry standards and data protection regulations.
• Boost system security.
• Provide ongoing technical support and bug fixes for existing modules.
• Contribute to technical design reviews, code reviews, and team knowledge.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Log Management, metrices, and performance optimizations.
• Experience working in agile teams and managing complex, multi-module systems.
• Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work in multicultural teams.

Preferred:

• Experience in higher education domain.
• Exposure to AI tools, understanding this is the future of any SW solution and part of the strategic future of the university core system.
• Knowledge of information security and data protection standards in academic environments.
