Mobile App Development Tech Lead (iOS and Android)

Brief

Ogen HR is seeking a Mobile App Technical Leader (iOS and Android) on behalf of a multinational medical device company based in Rehovot. The role involves contributing to an ongoing medical device development project. Work will take place primarily at the client’s site in Rehovot (near the train station), with the flexibility to work two days a week from home (hybrid model).

Role Description

A medical device company is seeking a Mobile App Technical Leader (iOS and Android) for a full-time position.

As the digital app technical leader, you will oversee the technical aspects of the mobile application while remaining hands-on in development. Responsibilities include defining and enforcing coding guidelines and development processes, ensuring app reliability and quality, writing unit tests, managing integrations with cloud services and medical devices, conducting code reviews, producing high-quality technical documentation, and introducing new technologies and processes.

Development will be carried out in compliance with medical regulations, cybersecurity and privacy requirements, timelines, and budget constraints.

The position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams—designers, developers, full-stack and backend engineers, and system engineers—to gather requirements and develop mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms.

Approximately 30% of the role involves active coding.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the mobile application development process and environment
• Ensure clean, efficient, and maintainable code
• Define scalable architectures for mobile applications
• Identify and mitigate technical vulnerabilities (e.g., cybersecurity risks)
• Introduce modern mobile app development tools and practices
• Continuously improve the development process and product quality
• Produce and maintain clear, structured technical documentation (e.g., design specifications, architecture overviews, requirement definitions) that supports development clarity, cross-functional collaboration, and long-term maintainability. Strong documentation skills are essential for success in this role.

Competencies

• Deep understanding of mobile software development processes
• Proficiency in Kotlin, Swift, and Java for current applications; familiarity with cross-platform frameworks is an advantage
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with great attention to detail
• Ability to write clear and structured technical documentation, including architecture, design, and requirements, tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and Hebrew
• Ability to convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
• Willingness to learn and adhere to medical device development standards
• Team player with effective collaboration skills across technical and non-technical roles

Education and Knowledge Requirements

Must:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience developing and maintaining mobile applications for iOS and Android in regulated industries with structured development and documentation practices (e.g., fintech, insurance, healthcare)
• Experience with structured development processes, including version control (e.g., Git) and agile methodologies
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Nice to Have:

• Experience integrating mobile applications with cloud services (AWS experience is an advantage)
• Knowledge of mobile app security, secure authentication, and data encryption
• Prior experience in system-level development of multidisciplinary products
