Job Description

Surense is hiring a Senior R&D Engineer (Tech Lead) to drive key initiatives end-to-end. This role blends deep hands-on development with technical leadership: owning architectures, guiding engineers, and delivering high-impact solutions with speed and quality. You’ll work closely with product and company leadership to translate business goals into robust, scalable software.

This is an on-site role at our Modi’in / Rishon LeZion offices.

Responsibilities

• Define and own technical direction and architecture for major product areas; drive ongoing innovation and execution.
• Lead complex design and development hands-on (back-end first, with awareness of front-end).
• Mentor and guide engineers (code/design reviews, best practices); elevate engineering quality and velocity.
• Own existing products and lead new product/feature development, including large-scale architectural decisions and competitive differentiation.
• Ensure stable, secure, scalable, and cost-efficient infrastructure.
• Improve engineering methodologies; implement best practices (Agile, CI/CD, Cloud-Native).
• Partner with leadership on planning; translate business objectives into actionable technical roadmaps and milestones.
• Uphold high standards of quality, security, and compliance; align with relevant regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• 8+ years as a hands-on software engineer, including technical leadership of projects/initiatives and mentoring other engineers.
• B.Sc. in Computer Science / Software Engineering or related field (required); advanced degree is an advantage.
• Proven experience building SaaS systems.
• Expertise in cloud architecture (AWS) and scalable infrastructures; experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform).
• Strong back-end development background and familiarity with modern front-end frameworks.
• Solid grounding in Agile practices and improving R&D performance through process and tooling (CI/CD, testing, observability).
• Strong product sense: ability to connect technical decisions with business impact.
• Experience in FinTech/InsurTech and regulated environments – advantage.
• On-site availability at our Modi’in / Rishon LeZion offices.
