About the Role

We’re looking for a Team Leader to help shape, build, and grow Obol’s core engineering capabilities. You’ll lead a high-impact team responsible for both extending existing system capabilities and creating new products and features. This role blends hands-on development with technical leadership — guiding architecture, setting best practices, and mentoring engineers — all within a fast-moving, product-focused environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Establish a culture of high standards, quality and delivery.
• Coach your team to help them grow and excel in their work.
• Collaborate with product managers and other engineering teams to deliver data-driven solutions.
• Recruit new team members .
• Define and guide new architectures, build and maintain scalable microservices.
• Ensure best practices in testing, monitoring, and performance.

What We’re Looking For

Leadership & Management:

• Proven management experience – demonstrated success leading teams and managing complex projects, including 3+ years leading engineers, with a track record of hiring, growing, and managing high-performing teams.
• High degree of independence – the ability to self-motivate, drive initiatives, and advance workstreams without external dependency.
• Empathy and leadership – the capacity to build a supportive, growth-oriented environment for team members with a mentorship mindset
• High work standards – meticulous attention to detail, commitment to quality, and the ability to maintain focused, effective execution.
• Creativity and problem-solving – original thinking and the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.

Technical Skills & Experience:

• Hands-on experience in building highly scalable systems – with a deep understanding of distributed architecture, performance optimization, and reliability.
• Back-end focus – with working knowledge of modern frontend frameworks and the ability to collaborate effectively across the stack.
• Experience with event-driven systems – proficiency with message brokers and streaming platforms like Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development – comfortable leveraging AI tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, and enhance productivity.
• DevOps familiarity (advantage) – hands-on experience with DevOps tools and frameworks such as Terraform, ArgoCD, and similar technologies.
• Experience with payment and/or money transfer systems (advantage) – familiarity with financial transaction workflows, integrations, and compliance considerations.
