One of our clients, a cutting-edge technology company specializing in autonomous systems, is looking to hire a Robotics Navigation Algorithms Team Lead. This company develops advanced navigation and motion planning solutions tailored for unstructured outdoor environments, with applications in both the agricultural and defense sectors. Their autonomous platform transforms conventional vehicles into smart, self-operating systems—improving operational efficiency and enabling safer, data-driven missions in the field.
About the Role
The company is seeking an experienced and hands-on technical leader to head its Navigation Algorithms team. In this role, you’ll guide the development of core algorithms that enable robust autonomous navigation across unpredictable terrains, supporting real-world deployment in both commercial and tactical use cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of algorithm engineers, providing technical guidance and managing delivery timelines.
- Design and implement algorithms for motion planning, localization, control, and decision-making under uncertainty.
- Ensure safe, efficient, and reliable autonomous navigation in dynamic off-road environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including perception, systems, integration, and hardware to deliver a fully functional autonomy stack.
- Utilize real-world field data and simulation environments to iterate and improve performance over time.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience developing navigation or motion planning algorithms for autonomous systems.
- Strong theoretical background in path planning, control systems, and state estimation (e.g., A*, RRT, MPC, Kalman filters).
- Proficiency in C++ and modern software engineering practices (testing, code reviews, version control).
- Proven leadership ability with hands-on technical involvement.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
Advantages
- Experience deploying autonomous systems in off-road conditions (e.g., agricultural or defense use cases).
- Familiarity with ROS/ROS2.
- Exposure to AI/ML-based planning or decision-making approaches.
- Experience with real-time localization, sensor fusion, and GPS/IMU-based navigation systems.
