About The Role
As ShipIn’s first Product Analyst, you will play a central role in driving data-informed decisions at ShipIn. This position combines hands-on product analytics with strategic research for product innovation in the maritime and insurance domains. The Analyst will support both product performance validation and discovery of new opportunities, ensuring that ShipIn’s insights and scores deliver measurable value to customers and insurance partners.
You’ll report directly to the VP of Product while working with Product Managers, Data, AI/ML Engineers, Customer Success, and other key stakeholders. Collaborate across disciplines - from Data Science and Maritime experts to Insurance partners - to transform insights into clear product strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the go-to person for product data analysis, validation, and reporting.
- Analyze user engagement across ShipIn’s applications (onboard and shore personas) to understand adoption, workflows, and value extraction.
- Build dashboards and reports to track KPIs, risk scores, and product usage across customers and fleets.
- Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to identify bottlenecks, validate hypotheses, and optimize product performance.
- Ensure data quality and consistency across internal analytics sources.
- Conduct data-driven research on emerging product opportunities, identifying trends and correlations within ShipIn’s insights and risk scores for maritime insurance.
- Provide recommendations for new modules, features, or risk engineering tools tailored to the Maritime trends and needs.
Qualifications
- 4-6 years of experience in product analytics, BI, or data research roles, in SaaS, AI/ML-driven products, or data-rich enterprise applications.
- Hands-on expertise with SQL and product analytics tools (e.g., Looker, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Tableau, or similar); comfort with Python/R for deeper analysis.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate raw data into business insights.
- Ability to design and track KPIs, funnels, and cohort analyses.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or similar). Advanced degrees (MSc, PhD, MBA) are a plus.
- Strong communicator able to tell a story with data for both technical and business audiences.
- Curiosity and a proactive mindset in exploring patterns, anomalies, and new opportunities.
- Detail-oriented, highly analytical, and structured.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and balance execution with strategic thinking.
Nice if You Have
- Familiarity with maritime, industrial, Banking risk management or insurance industries is an advantage.
- Understanding of AI/ML concepts and risk scoring frameworks.
