What we are looking for

We’re looking for a Data Team Lead who excels at both leading teams and being hands-on. In this role, you’ll manage a small, high-impact team (currently a Data Engineer and a Data Analyst, with headcount expected to grow) while staying close to the technology. You’ll work with Databricks (Unity Catalog), Spark/PySpark, Python, GA/GA4, and MongoDB, taking ownership of our ETLs, data models, and analytics that drive product and growth decisions.

What you’ll do

Leadership (≈50%)

• Set team priorities, sprint plans, and quarterly OKRs; balance long-term roadmap with rapid business requests.
• Lead and coach a Data Engineer and a Data Analyst, and play a key role in growing the team.
• Define and enforce data standards: modeling conventions, code reviews, testing, and SLAs.
• Partner with Product, Growth/Marketing, RevOps, and Engineering to translate business questions into reliable data products and dashboards.

Hands-on (≈50%)

• Design, build, and operate ETL/ELT pipelines on Databricks (Spark/PySpark, Delta Lake).
• Model clean, reliable datasets (bronze/silver/gold) for analytics and experimentation.
• Implement data quality and observability: freshness/completeness checks, anomaly detection, and monitoring.
• Work with GA/GA4 event data (ingestion, schema governance, sessionization, attribution basics).
• Build and optimize MongoDB queries and schema designs.
• Own Unity Catalog setup and governance. Deliver dashboards and core business metrics (activation, conversion, retention/churn, LTV/ARPU, AOV, campaign performance).

Requirements

• Experience in SAAS B2C/ SMB companies - An advantage
• Proven hands-on experience with ETL/ELT development (Experience with Databricks Jobs and/or PySpark - an advantage).
• Strong skills in Python and SQL, with solid software engineering practices (Git, CI/CD, code review).
• Practical experience with Google Analytics / GA4 (events, parameters, BigQuery export, downstream pipelines).
• 2+ years of experience in team leadership (Tech Lead or Manager) with direct people management and mentoring.
• 2+ years of experience in Data Science/ML building and shipping predictive models and time-series forecasting - a significant advantage.
• Strong analytical thinking, the ability to identify trends and insights from data and translate it to deliverables (reports, dashboards, etc.).
• Ability to dive into details while keeping a holistic, system-level perspective.
• Comfortable working independently and effectively in a remote/hybrid setup.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a true team player.
• Interest in art and photography would be a great plus
