About the Role

Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex XDR research team is hiring a Malware Analyst for its Tel Aviv R&D center. The team builds and enhances malware detection and prevention systems focused on real-world threats.

This is a hands-on role involving malware analysis, signature development, incident response, and workflow automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze malware and track the evolving threat landscape.
• Collaborate with global research, support, and sales teams.
• Investigate and respond to false positives/negatives.
• Automate detection workflows and routine analysis.
• Contribute to content development for Anti-Malware features in the Cortex agent.
• Be available for occasional off-hours work (weekends/holidays) if needed.

Required Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in malware analysis or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of malware behavior and analysis techniques.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Attention to detail and a “play to win” mindset.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Preferred Skills

• Experience writing custom YARA or IPS signatures.
• Background in security research, SOC, penetration testing, or incident response.
• Familiarity with SQL-based querying tools.
