Senior Software Engineer

Identifai-genetics is an innovative Tel Aviv-based startup at the intersection of machine learning, big data, and genomics. Our core work is developing next-generation non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) using whole genome sequencing. This involves working with massive genomic datasets and building robust, scalable production systems. We are looking for an experienced senior software engineer to take a hands-on lead role in building and scaling the software systems that power our technology.

Responsibilities:

• Write high-quality, production-grade code to transform research pipelines into robust, scalable software.
• Design and implement data processing systems capable of handling terabytes of genomic data efficiently.
• Collaborate closely with bioinformaticians and data scientists to productionize new algorithms.
• Build and maintain cloud-based infrastructure for storing, processing, and analyzing sequencing data.
• Mentor junior engineers and introduce best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment.
• Take ownership of technical decisions and help shape the engineering culture.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in startups or fast-moving environments.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern object-oriented programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C++, C#).
• Solid background in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD workflows.
• Proven experience working with large-scale data systems, including storage optimization and high-throughput data processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and deliver solutions end-to-end.
• (Nice to have) Background in bioinformatics, genomics, or healthcare data.
