Backend Engineer – AI Group

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer with experience building production-grade services, eager to apply their expertise to AI-driven features. This role is about engineering at scale: designing APIs, pipelines, and services that bring advanced AI capabilities into a real-world analytics platform.

You’ll work closely with product managers, data scientists, and fellow engineers to transform AI concepts into production-grade APIs, services, and workflows that are scalable, reliable, and performant.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build backend services that power AI features across the Sisense platform (e.g., Natural Language Query, semantic search).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, turning prototypes from data scientists into robust, customer-facing features.
• Develop orchestration pipelines and APIs that integrate LLMs and other AI services into our product.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of AI-powered services in production.
• Build internal tooling and reusable components to accelerate AI feature delivery across teams.
• Integrate with infrastructure components, including LLM gateways, vector databases, and observability tools.

What You Bring

• 4+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, building scalable, distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Python, Node.js, or Go (bonus if you’ve worked with multiple).
• Strong experience with APIs, microservices, orchestration, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Ability to take experimental logic (e.g., from Data Science or AI prototypes) and productionize it into maintainable services.
• Familiarity with AI frameworks and tools such as LangChain, RAG, MLflow, or vector databases.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across product, infra, and data teams.

Bonus points

• Experience with agentic workflows, multi-agent orchestration, or other advanced AI service patterns.
• Exposure to knowledge graphs, semantic search, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• Interest in AI observability, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
