Logistics Coordinator, Israel (Contract)

The Israel Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing logistics operations between vendors, freight forwarders, and relevant authorities, ensuring the seamless movement of goods for humanitarian aid efforts. This role requires precise planning and strong coordination skills to guarantee that the correct products are loaded, compliant with labeling and documentation requirements, and that shipments move efficiently through Israel and into Gaza. The Supervisor will also liaise with the Logistics Cluster, customs, and UNOPS, conduct site inspections at Kerem Shalom crossing, and support vendor expansion in Israel and the West Bank. This position requires fluency in English and Hebrew (Arabic is an asset), strong problem-solving abilities, and knowledge of humanitarian logistics.

Duration: This is a six (6) contract term position with the opportunity for renewal, offering a unique chance to support WCK's responses.

Rates: Contract rates are based on experience and location; contract rates are included only when on rotation or activation.

Location(s): Tel-aviv, Israel based, with frequent travel to active relief sites throughout the Middle East.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Tasks:

• Identify, visit, and evaluate new vendors as requested
• Request, receive, and assess product samples for quality and suitability
• Prepare and send RFQs (Request for Quotations) and collect vendor offers
• Develop and maintain comparison sheets to support vendor selection
• Follow up with vendors on deliveries, outstanding orders, and timelines
• Maintain and update the vendor database, including performance records
• Support vendor expansion in Israel and the West Bank by identifying and coordinating with new suppliers
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with organizational policies and procedures
• Plan and manage logistics between vendors and freight forwarders
• Conduct site visits to Kerem Shalom crossing to monitor truck movements and resolve on-the-ground issues
• Prepare and submit proper paperwork to apply under the UN mechanism, and prepare manifests
• Liaise with customs authorities, prepare clearance documents, and coordinate customs clearance when required
• Supervise loading and track offloading of goods, ensuring the correct products are loaded and labeled (stickers, LX numbers, QR codes) requirements are met
• Maintain continuous communication with suppliers, logistics teams, and relevant authorities
• Support vendor expansion efforts in Israel and the West Bank, including identifying and coordinating with new suppliers
• Inform key team members of convoy departure and arrival times
• Coordinate with the Logistics Cluster for weekly convoys to Gaza
• Monitor border closings and track shipments to ensure timely delivery
• Ensure warehouse safety and adherence to public safety procedures and proper storage conditions
• Handle urgent issues that disrupt logistics operations and implement immediate solutions
• Update convoy data on Airtable in coordination with the data team
• Collaborate closely with the supply chain team in Jordan, with periodic travel as needed
• Provide regular updates and reports to the Logistics Manager
  
  

• Strong understanding of regulations related to the transport and entry of humanitarian aid and goods into Gaza
• Experience in customs procedures and humanitarian logistics
• Familiarity with the local logistics market in Israel and the West Bank, including transportation companies and suppliers
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for liaising with vendors, transport companies, customs, and security teams
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, emergency response environment
• Strong attention to detail to ensure compliance and accuracy in documentation and shipments
• Capability to perform site inspections, including at Kerem Shalom crossing
• Language skills: Fluency in English and Hebrew required; Arabic an asset
