Plastic Back is a clean tech startup in the plastic-to-oil sector. The company has developed a chemical process that converts post-consumed plastic waste into valuable products. The company’s mission is to enable a circular economy by creating value in waste.

The company is seeking an experienced team leader for our chemistry department to join the company’s R&D efforts. The candidate will lead the day-to-day activities and be the point of contact between management and the laboratory.

Responsibilities

·       Lead and manage a team of three chemists, including experiment design, task distribution, and daily supervision.

·       Drive process optimization and laboratory scale-up activities.

·       Collaborate closely with the engineering department to align chemical and technical development.

·       Conduct hands-on qualitative and quantitative experiments on organic and inorganic compounds.

·       Prepare technical reports for governmental grants and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

·       PhD in Chemistry and/or Materials Engineering.

·       5+ years of experience managing R&D teams.

·       Proven experience collaborating with engineering teams.

·       Track record of reporting and leading government-supported grants.

·       Experience in chemical oxidation and scale-up processes.

·       Proficiency in interpreting analytical data (GC, NMR, etc.).

·       Expertise in organic chemistry, polymers, and crude oil – an advantage.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Hebrew and English.

·       Knowledge in distillation processes and oil characterization.
