Director of Business Development, DeepTech & Exact Sciences

Reporting to: CEO and VP of Business Development

Location: Rehovot, Israel (Weizmann Institute campus)

Organization: Yeda – the commercial arm of the Weizmann Institute of Science

Role Summary:

Lead the commercialization of breakthrough Deep-Tech & Exact Sciences innovations from

the Weizmann Institute, spanning Physics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Engineering

and Medical Devices. You’ll collaborate with leading researchers, assess the market potential

of early-stage discoveries, and drive licensing, collaborations, and spinouts with global

industry partners and investors. The role requires strong scientific background, business

acumen, and the ability to translate deep science into products and ventures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and evaluate emerging research projects with strong applicative potential, focusing on technologies spanning AI, Quantum, Medical Devices, Semiconductors and more.
• Collaborate with researchers to assess the feasibility, market potential, and real-world applications of early-stage scientific discoveries.
• Guide Weizmann researchers in positioning their discoveries for industry partnerships.
• Conduct market analysis, evaluate competitive landscapes, and assess industry dynamics to develop commercialization strategies for Yeda’s technologies across multiple sectors.
• Work closely with IP, marketing, and legal teams to ensure seamless and eVective implementation of the tech transfer processes.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, investors, and key stakeholders to promote collaborations and identify licensing opportunities.
• Lead the preparation and negotiation of legal agreements, including licensing agreements and collaborations, to secure the commercialization of Weizmann technologies.
• Assist in the formation of startups and spin-oVs that will advance the development of Weizmann’s innovations.

Qualifications:

• Education: MSc degree or above in Exact Sciences, Engineering, or a related field is required.
• Industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience within the DeepTech and/or Tech industries, with a demonstrated ability to bridge academia and industry.
• Scientific Insight: Demonstrated capability to understand complex scientific research and identify its potential for market applications.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to eVectively convey the commercial value of early-stage research to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
• Networking Abilities: Strong interpersonal and networking skills to build relationships with Weizmann researchers and industry stakeholders.
• Project Management: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage a diverse portfolio of projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is a must.
• Preferred Experience: Significant advantage for candidates with experience or background

in business development roles.
