Control Engineer – Autonomous Flight Systems

Job Description

Join the engineering team to develop advanced autonomous flight control systems for defense applications. The role includes designing high-precision algorithms, developing navigation and guidance systems, and integrating sensors and advanced technologies in contested flight environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop flight control algorithms for high-performance autonomous aerial systems.
• Develop accurate navigation and guidance systems for complex flight scenarios.
• Implement high-frequency PID controllers (≥4kHz) and use Extended Kalman Filters (EKF) for sensor fusion.
• Develop coordinate transformation systems for vision-based navigation.
• Integrate MEMS sensors, IMU units, thermal cameras, and GNSS systems.
• Collaborate with RF engineers for GNSS integration and detection.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Aeronautics, or Control Systems.
• 5+ years of experience in autonomous flight control, preferably in defense applications.
• Experience with control loops including dead-time and system modeling.
• Expertise in designing and implementing real-time PID controllers and EKF.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for real-time systems.
• Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink for analysis, modeling, and simulations.
• Experience with flight control systems (PX4, ArduPilot, Betaflight).
• Familiarity with MEMS sensors, IMUs, and sensor fusion.
• Knowledge of relevant military standards (MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461E).

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. and 7+ years of experience in defense systems.
• Experience in precision flight control or advanced navigation systems.
• Knowledge of computer vision and thermal imaging.
• Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
