Senior Consultant - Storage

Job Summary

The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Senior Consultant and Storage Expert to join us in Israel. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert for designing, deploying, and managing resilient, high-performance, software-defined storage solutions. Your primary focus will be on Red Hat Ceph and Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF). You'll lead the hands-on, on-site implementation of Red Hat's storage portfolio, deeply integrating it with container platforms like Red Hat OpenShift and automating its lifecycle with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. You'll play a pivotal role in modernizing our customers' enterprise data strategies, ensuring our storage solutions are practical, robust, and scalable. You'll work to gain a deep understanding of customer data infrastructure and business drivers, making strategic recommendations to resolve their most critical data storage, protection, and management challenges. As a Senior Storage Consultant, you will empower customers to build a unified and scalable data foundation for their cloud-native and traditional enterprise applications.

What You Will Do

• Serve as a subject matter expert at the customer site, addressing technical, architectural, and strategic requirements related to software-defined storage (SDS) and data management.
• Understand industry best practices for storage architecture, data protection, and disaster recovery, and align them with Red Hat's policies, procedures, and values.
• Demonstrate expert judgment in selecting the best methods and Ceph-based architectures to meet customer workload and performance requirements.
• Lead the implementation and integration of Red Hat's storage solutions, primarily Red Hat Ceph Storage and Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation.
• Collaborate with project and customer team members to meet timelines and goals, providing specific guidance on storage deployment and consumption.
• Develop comprehensive project documentation, including architectural diagrams, configuration details, and operational runbooks for storage environments.
• Mentor and share your deep knowledge of Ceph and modern storage principles with customers and internal teams.
• Define and promote automation techniques and DevOps processes to improve the storage life cycle, including cluster deployment, expansion, monitoring, and day-2 operations.
• Lead efforts in storage performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting complex issues within large-scale Ceph clusters.
  
  

What You Will Bring

• 4+ years of hands-on experience and advanced knowledge of Red Hat Ceph, including a deep understanding of its core components (RADOS, RGW, RBD, CephFS) and architecture.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale, software-defined storage solutions, particularly for cloud-native and virtualized environments.
• Advanced knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF) or its upstream equivalent, Rook.
• Solid experience with Red Hat OpenShift or underlying components like Kubernetes, including how stateful applications consume persistent storage.
• Deep knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), especially in the context of tuning and managing storage nodes.
• Ability to communicate value, progress, and metrics of complex storage projects to required stakeholders in both technical and business audiences.
• Ability to study on your own, learn quickly, and put new ideas into practice.
• Passion for open source, software, tooling, and automation.
• Good communication skills, verbal and written, in English and Hebrew.
• Availability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Security Classification will be a plus.
  
  

Other Skills That Will Be Considered a Plus

• Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ceph Storage Administration or similar certifications.
• Experience with data migration methodologies and tools for moving data to Ceph-based platforms.
• Working experience with DevOps and agile processes.
• Experience using public cloud storage technologies and providers like Amazon S3/EBS or Azure Blob/Disk.
• Experience with other storage protocols (e.g., NFS, iSCSI) and enterprise storage arrays.
