Background
Theator is a team dedicated to the alleviation of variability and disparity in the world of surgery. We do so by leveraging cutting-edge deep tech to understand what surgical best practices look like in the real world. Computer vision allows us to structure unstructured surgical footage. A variety of other AI tools help us understand context, then identify best practices to guide humans and robots and provide billions worldwide with access to safe and affordable surgical care.
We are looking for a superstar Clinical Product Manager to join the team and play a key role in our ambitious project.
If you’re passionate about solving problems that matter, highly motivated, a team player, and eager to work in a fast-paced start-up with a meaningful goal – you’re on our wish list! You’ll be part of a team of like-minded professionals tackling a significant unmet need in healthcare. You can expect a high sense of ownership, a lot of responsibility, and endless room for growth.
As a Clinical Product Manager, you will serve as the bridge between the clinical and product worlds. You will translate real clinical needs into clear product requirements, drive the development of features that matter to surgeons and healthcare systems, and ensure our solutions deliver tangible clinical and business impact. You’ll work closely with surgeons, clinical experts, annotators, engineers, and product teams to shape and refine Theator’s Surgical Intelligence platform.
You'll be responsible for:
- Own the clinical-to-product translation: convert surgical workflows and pain points into product features and requirements.
- Lead the clinical team, driving alignment and execution of clinical initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with the research, operations, and product teams to build clinically robust solutions.
- Partner with surgeons and clinical experts to validate needs and gather feedback.
- Mapping of new surgical procedures, creating clinical materials for new annotations, and supporting the operations team in implementing processes and events.
- Drive initiatives around operative report automation, coding, and surgical event mapping.
- Be actively involved in AI research initiatives in surgery, working closely with the clinical research team and collaborating with leading hospitals worldwide.
- Support go-to-market efforts with clinically grounded product positioning.
Your background and skills should include:
- MD degree with a strong understanding of surgical workflows (gynecology, general surgery, and/or urology preferred).
- Experience in healthtech/medtech.
- Strong analytical mindset and ability to structure complex medical workflows.
- Excellent communication skills – able to align and influence both clinical stakeholders and technical teams.
- Passion for improving healthcare and patient outcomes through technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to learn quickly and “get things done” attitude.
You’ll get some major bonus points if you have experience with:
- Experience in product management or clinical product
- Experience with surgical coding (ICD-10, CPT, modifiers).
- Background in medical AI or computer vision.
How do you know if you fit right in?
You’re frustrated with the status quo around you and are passionate about improving. You’re creative, thrive in ambiguity and uncertainty, and enjoy blazing a trail. You practice transparency. You want to be surrounded by stellar team members and work well with others. You want to leave a mark.
