VP R&D

The company is a startup developing an AI and LLM analytics platform, built on advanced ML infrastructure, providing insights across multiple domains: Ad-tech, Marketing, Video Analytics, User Experience, Audience Analysis, Content Generation and Explainability, as well as strategic solutions for security organizations.

Located in Tel Aviv near a train station, operates a hybrid model with two work-from-home days per week, and employs 20 people, including 5 in development.

The company is profitable and has raised $12M from leading VC funds, serving significant clients including publicly traded companies.

The Head of R&D will lead and grow the development and research function, reporting directly to the CEO. This new strategic role combines hands-on technical engineering with strategic leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the R&D team (currently 5 developers: Tech Lead, Full Stack, and Algorithm Engineers)
• Plan and drive the next expansion of the R&D function
• Balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical guidance in AI and LLM development
• Identify problems, define solutions, and make system-level decisions (e.g., fine-tuning vs. training from scratch)
• Oversee development of AI Agents and architecture planning
• Implement AI solutions in production environments
• Drive innovation in AI and LLM technologies from an engineering perspective
• Tech stack: Python, Generative AI, Cloud Infrastructure, Docker, Kubernetes, AI Agents, AI Coding Tools, Machine Learning, Software Development

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 2 years of hands-on experience with LLMs
• Strong background in AI/ML
• Full hands-on experience in Python
• Experience in Ad-tech or related domains
• 6 years of managerial experience, leading teams of 7+ or holding a senior role (3+ years reporting directly to the head of R&D/CTO)
• Proven ability to manage, mentor, and grow technical teams
