Student Position – Generative AI R&D (MSc Student)

(2 days/week)

About the Role:

Join Ingersoll Rand’s cutting-edge Generative AI Center of Excellence and work alongside industry leaders developing the next generation of intelligent agentic AI systems. This student position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with real-world applications of LLMs, AI agents, and applied machine learning while continuing your academic studies. You will be involved in the research, prototyping, and evaluation of AI-driven systems. If you're a Master's student with a strong foundation in Python and a passion for AI innovation, this is your chance to make a real impact while building your career.

Responsibilities:

· Support the development and evaluation of agentic AI components and workflows.

· Assist with prototyping AI solutions using tools like LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI APIs, or open-source models.

· Contribute to research experiments, data preparation, and model integration tasks.

· Write clean, well-documented Python code for internal tools, pipelines, and evaluations.

· Collaborate with senior engineers and researchers to explore new methods in retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool-use, and autonomous agents.

Qualifications:

· Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.

· Solid experience with Python and familiarity with data structures, APIs, and scripting.

· Comfortable working independently, with curiosity and a problem-solving mindset.

· Nice to have (but not required):

· Hands-on experience with LLM libraries (LangChain, HuggingFace, etc.).

· Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) or Docker.

· Familiarity with prompt engineering or vector search.
