Chief Scientist - Senior microbiologist

Our innovative products harness the power of bacteriophages—viruses uniquely targeting bacteria—to prevent and cure plants, offering nontoxic solutions for bacterial diseases.

Our mission is to transform the agricultural bactericide market by offering precise, natural, and sustainable solutions to combat bacterial plant diseases. Co-developed with the prestigious Weizmann Institute of Science, EcoPhage’s proprietary technology platform enables safer and more effective crop protection, helping farmers increase yields and reduce losses while promoting ecological balance.

Position description

·          Experienced Chief Scientist in research and development of biological pesticides

·          Senior microbiologist

·          Identify technological and R&D needs

·          Implement new technological solutions and improve existing ones

·          Assist in planning short- and long-term tech strategy - enabling the company research its objectives (technological roadmap)

·          Leading company’s activity related to IP, regulation, scale-up and automation

·          Working close to the CEO and other members of company's management. 

·          Research activity relates to bacteria and phages in situ or in plant assays

·          Planning and performing experiments using a variety of microbiology techniques

·          Recording, analyzing and interpreting data

·          Experimental planning based on processing and concluding

·          Designing new methods according to literature

·          Ability to work in a scientific team

Professional Requirements

·          PhD in life sciences, plant science, biotechnology or biochemistry engineering (or equivalent)

·          Proven experience in microbiology research

·          Familiar with Bioinformatics and/ or Microbiology

·          Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands

·          Performing bacterial plant disease assays

·          Planning and executing experiments using a variety of techniques

·          Recording, analyzing and interpreting phenotypic data

·          Experimental planning based on processing and concluding

·          Designing new methods according to literature and need

·          Look for and implement new technologies within the company to ensure its success. 

·          oversee the company's data and implement company's technical strategy.

·          Develop policies, procedures and uses of technology to enhance products development and optimize cost.

·          Scale up, IP, regulation

·          Deep scientific understanding

·          The Chief Scientist also develops strategies to increase revenue and performs a cost-benefit analysis and return-on-investment analysis.
