Software Engineer - Role Overview

We’re looking for a hands-on, versatile Software Engineer to help us build and scale Medāna’s AI-driven platform. You will work across the stack — from data ingestion pipelines to interactive visualizations and chat-based decision-support interfaces — and collaborate closely with data scientists, clinicians, and product leads. You’ll help turn complex healthcare datasets into intuitive, actionable tools powered by models that can reason, plan, and act.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and maintain backend services for data processing, model inference, and API delivery
• ⁠Build and optimize data ingestion and transformation pipelines for structured and unstructured clinical data
• Collaborate with the AI/ML team to integrate Bayesian networks, ML models, causal inference, and Agentic AI pipelines into production
• Develop intuitive, interactive user interfaces — including chat-based exploration tools — for model explainability and healthcare decision support
• Ensure system scalability, reliability, and security, adhering to healthcare compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR)
• Participate in architectural decisions, code reviews, and continuous delivery improvements
• Work in a fast-moving startup environment where priorities shift and your contributions have immediate impact

What We’re Looking For

• Startup mindset — adaptable, resourceful, collaborative, and hands-on
• 3+ years of experience in software engineering (startup or high-growth environment preferred)
• Proven expertise in Python, with strong coding skills in object-oriented design, modular architecture, and clean, maintainable code practices.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, data modeling, and relational/non-relational databases
• Comfort working with data-heavy applications, preferably in healthcare or other regulated industries
• Experience with ML/AI integration (pgmpy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, LangChain, or similar) is a strong plus
• ⁠Knowledge of data visualization libraries (e.g., Pyvis, D3.js, Plotly) and conversational interfaces is a plus.
