Process Development Engineer

GreenOnyx, a cutting-edge Israeli Ag-tech/Food-tech startup, is seeking a Process Development Engineer to lead process validation, equipment integration, and process optimization for its sterile, modular, and fully automated vertical farm for Duckweed cultivation.

In this pivotal role, you will own the development and documentation of manufacturing processes, including SOPs and P&IDs and drive process stability, robustness, and automation from R&D through scale-up to mass deployment. Acting as the vital bridge between R&D and Operations, you will enable smooth NPI and scalable production.

Definition & Responsibilities

1. Process Stability & Optimization

• Enhance the stability and robustness of our Duckweed growing system.
• Lead process verification and validation activities for new mechanical components and process functions.
• Drive system-wide improvements in cleaning, harvesting, packaging, and media flow.

2. Documentation & Compliance

• Develop and maintain SOPs, P&IDs, work instructions, and other controlled documentation.
• Ensure all process documentation aligns with ISO standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support audits and process-related inspections with clear, accurate records.

3. Equipment Integration & NPI

• Lead equipment integration from requirements definition to qualification.
• Oversee smooth handover to Operations, including training, maintenance, and work instructions.
• Align processes with biological requirements and system control architecture.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with biological, mechanical, and operations teams on process improvements.
• Participate in root cause investigations and production troubleshooting.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary efforts for system scale-up and automation.

5. Growth Potential

• Take on increasing responsibility for process development and optimization as the company scales.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with CIP/SIP and sterile environments in Food-tech/Med-tech.
• Experience in regulated industries (medical devices, pharmaceuticals) – advantage.
• Strong analytical mindset with a hands-on, problem-solving approach.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (preferred).
• 4–7 years’ experience in process development within production environments.
• Experience with controlled documents, ISO standards, and engineering change processes (ECO/ MOC).
• Skilled at interpreting mechanical schematics, process flows, and complex multidisciplinary systems.
• Experience with CIP/SIP, and sterile environments (foodtech/medtech) – strong advantage.
• Self-motivated team player with a hands-on approach, strong analytical skills, and a practical mindset.
