Director of Software and AI – Multidisciplinary Defense-Tech IoT Systems

A stealth-mode defense technology company developing advanced multidisciplinary systems is seeking a Director of Software to lead the architecture and development of real-time, mission-critical platforms.

We are building next-generation systems that combine AI-powered decision-making, real-time sensor fusion, edge computing, and autonomous control. This role suits a senior software leader who excels at the intersection of embedded systems, scalable infrastructure, and intelligent autonomy.

Responsibilities:

Lead the end-to-end design and implementation of the software stack — from embedded control to edge/cloud integration.

Build and scale core AI infrastructure, including:

ML model pipelines

Data collection and annotation frameworks

Real-time inference optimization

Design scalable software systems for:

Sensor fusion and computer vision

Autonomous control and decision-making

Edge deployment and orchestration

Recruit, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of software, AI, and algorithm engineers.

Work closely with system architects, hardware, and product teams to define and meet performance and integration requirements.

Ensure secure and robust development practices aligned with defense standards.

Requirements:

10+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years in technical leadership or director-level roles.

Proven track record in designing complex, real-time systems that combine AI, data infrastructure, and embedded/IoT platforms.

Deep experience in AI/ML engineering, real-time data pipelines, and deployment of AI at the edge.

Hands-on expertise with:

C++ / Python

ROS, RTOS, or embedded Linux

Cloud-edge architectures (e.g., containers, Kubernetes, OTA updates)

Demonstrated experience building production-grade AI solutions integrated into physical systems.

Background in defense, aerospace, robotics, or autonomous systems — strong advantage.

Eligibility for security clearance — a plus.
