Back End Developer

Pelles is an early-stage construction tech startup building the leading AI platform for subcontractors. We’re looking for passionate problem-solvers with a can-do attitude to join us as one of the first members of our founding team. As an early team member, you’ll play a pivotal role in building our product and tech stack from the ground up, while also helping shape the culture and direction of the company.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs using modern frameworks
• Develop and optimize ETL pipelines to support data ingestion. This includes ensuring robust, efficient, and scalable data flows
• Work closely with the co-founders and product team to define and deliver new features
• Take ownership of infrastructure and deployment pipelines
• Ensure reliability, performance, and security across the backend system
• Integrate AI and data-driven components into core services

Requirements:

• At least 3–4 years of hands-on backend development experience
• Strong experience with at least one modern backend language (e.g., Python)
• Proficiency with RESTful API design and development
• Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Knowledge of database technologies — both SQL and NoSQL
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-moving startup environment
• Excellent communication skills and a team player mentality

Bonus points for:

• Experience working with vector or graph databases (e.g., Faiss, Neo4j)
• Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines and integration into backend workflows
• Previous work with construction tech or document-heavy platforms (PDF/CAD)
• Experience with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
• Interest in shaping engineering culture and best practices from the ground up
