Head of Engineering

A promising Cyber Security startup that is already operating in deployment with a Design Partner.

Located in Tel Aviv near the light rail, with one work-from-home day per week. The company currently has 20 employees, most of whom are in R&D, and is growing.

Recently completed a significant Seed round led by a top-tier VC fund, ahead of a major Series A, with the addition of strategic private investors from leading industry players.

About the role-

• First R&D leadership position in a promising Cyber Security startup.
• Reports directly to the Co-Founder/CTO who has led development to date.
• Opportunity to shape and build the R&D organization from the ground up.
• Managing a team of 9 senior developers (some with managerial background) and 1 DevOps engineer.
• Flat hierarchy team members are independent and don’t require micromanagement.
• Full ownership of development processes alongside partial hands-on involvement.
• Responsible for day-to-day team management, tech stack decisions, product leadership, and hiring.
• Will establish a team lead layer and play a key role in company growth and direction.
• Tech stack includes Go (no prior experience required), GCP, Kubernetes, Microservices, and React.
• Requires strong leadership skills, a quick-learning mindset, and a background in Security.
• Work pace and culture aligned with early-stage startup dynamics.
• One remote workday per week; offices near Tel Aviv light rail station.
• Backed by a significant Seed round led by a top-tier VC and strategic private investors.
• Career growth path toward VP R&D, including expansion planning and integration with AI/Data Science domains.

Requirements-

• 5 years of managerial experience (including Team Lead and senior management roles)
• Experienced manager who is still close enough to the code
• Comfortable reviewing code with developers
• Good understanding of cybersecurity
• Experience in startups: either founding teams, building groups, or joining when the company was still a startup and growing
• Proven hands-on expertise in security within complex production environments (SU-level security expertise required).
• Strong hands-on capabilities – must be actively involved in implementation and execution.
• Experience managing a technical team of 9 engineers.
