Data Scientist / AI Detection Research

About The Role

As a Data Scientist on the AI Detection Research team, you will play a critical role in identifying and mitigating mobile threats through advanced AI and machine learning techniques.

This is part of the research organization that is responsible for protecting against cyberattacks and malicious activity, and creating innovative solutions for mobile app security.

You'll work on cutting-edge problems that traditional detection methods cannot solve, developing neural networks and ML models to protect against emerging attack vectors in AI-driven mobile applications.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build complete AI/ML project lifecycles - from data collection and model development to testing and production code deployment.
• Build secure AI models that run on hundreds of millions of mobile devices within Appdome-protected applications.
• Create advanced detection algorithms for sophisticated and complex threats that traditional security methods fail to identify.
• Optimize model performance across diverse mobile device environments to ensure reliable threat detection.
• Research AI-based applications, frameworks, and OS-level features to identify emerging attack vectors and detect attempts to exploit embedded AI models.
• Collaborate with cyber research teams to validate and refine recognition models based on real-world threats.
  
  

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in Data Science roles.
• Proven experience managing AI/ML project lifecycles from conception to deployment.
• Deep understanding of classic ML, deep learning, and LLMs.
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, Scikit-Learn, and TensorFlow.
• Hands-on experience with low-level programming in C/C++.
• Team player with strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Quick learner with ability to adapt to new tools, methods, and frameworks.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in mobile app research or development (Android/iOS).
• Image processing experience.
• Reverse engineering experience with tools like IDA, gdb, and lldb.
• Knowledge of OS internals.
• Cybersecurity background with understanding of threat landscapes and attack vectors.
