Data Engineer and IT Business Projects Leader

The IT Business projects Leader is responsible for leading software development initiatives within the organization, ensuring the effective implementation of new technologies and capabilities to drive business growth. This role serves as a strategic partner with various departments, guiding them through technology development, solution discovery, and service management. The IT Business projects Leader manages the software development lifecycle, from planning through execution, and is instrumental in bringing innovative technologies to the organization while understanding the business needs.

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer who wants to take the next step towards a managerial position, leading projects and promoting data initiatives and BI in the organization.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Lead software development projects, focusing on delivering high-quality solutions that meet business requirements.
• Drive data and technology projects that bring new capabilities to the organization, ensuring they align with the overall business strategy.
• Partner with the CIO and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for technological advancements and prioritize projects accordingly.
• Oversee development teams, quality assurance (QA), and implementation efforts to ensure successful project delivery.
• Collaborate with business leaders to understand their needs, translating them into effective software solutions and innovations.
• Stay updated with the latest technologies and trends, continuously bringing new insights and capabilities to improve development processes and business outcomes.
• Manage and mentor team members, ensuring continuous learning and growth.
• Ensure proper documentation and communication of development processes, roadmaps, and key metrics.
• Participate in strategic planning and budgeting for software and technology projects.

Main projects on our roadmap:

• PAL V5 (ERP System)
• Development of data analytics solutions for real-time business insights.
• Enhancement of vessel telemetry systems (real-time data collection and reporting) & IoT integration for vessels
• Integration of AI and automation tools into software systems to streamline business processes.
• Office/vessel communication improvement
• Main process automation (invoices, DA, vessel takeover/management change).

Qualifications

• Relevant academic background
• Background in software development to effectively manage the development process
• Previous experience as a Data Engineer
• Experience managing and leading a team of IT professionals
• Strong expertise in ERP systems, BI, and Automation– A must
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills.
• High level of English (written and spoken)
