Director of Software Engineering

A brilliant defense tech company in Tel Aviv is looking for a seasoned Director of Software Engineering to lead a growing team of talented engineers. Product based on embedded linux.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers.

Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of multiple concurrent software projects.

Envision, define, and build SW products.

Design and develop scalable, secure, and high-performance software solutions for embedded Linux platforms (e.g., Yocto, Ubuntu), cloud infrastructure, and heterogeneous environments.

Build real-time data acquisition and processing pipelines with an emphasis on reliability, high throughput, low latency, and security.

Develop and maintain low-level software components, including interfacing with sensors, actuator control systems, and other hardware components.

Lead code reviews and best practices to continuously enhance development quality and team performance.

Bonus Skills

Experience with CUDA programming and accelerating workloads on NVIDIA platforms.

Hands-on development for NVIDIA Jetson edge computing devices (e.g., Jetson Nano, Xavier, Orin).

Architect and deploy cloud-based infrastructures and data pipelines to enable scalable storage, processing, and analytics of large datasets.

Requirements

7+ years of experience in full-stack software development, with a strong emphasis on embedded systems, real-time processing, and security.

Proven experience building and scaling complex, mission-critical systems.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field—or equivalent hands-on experience.

Proficient in C, C++, Python, and shell scripting.

Proven experience with system integration and the delivery of large, complex, multi-platform projects.

Practical experience with real-time data acquisition systems and hardware interfaces such as SPI, I2C, and UART.

Familiarity with high-performance messaging and processing pipelines (e.g., RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, and ZeroMQ) for reliable, low-latency communication.

Deep understanding of operating system internals.
