BMC is looking for a Backend Team Manager with hands-on experience and passion for innovation and technology!

In this role, you’ll lead a team of 8 highly skilled Backend Developers responsible for the Enterprise Manager Services – the core of our industry-leading workload automation product, Control-M.

The team is responsible for the design, architecture, and development of new and innovative solutions, including Control-M’s servers’ layer, workflow setting & conditions, orchestration, monitoring and more – all while taking it to the next level in a SaaS model.

This role offers both technical and people management opportunities. You'll be at the forefront of driving complex backend systems into a modern SaaS environment – an exciting and non-trivial challenge.

Responsibilities:

• Directly manage a team of 8 Backend Developers, including hiring, coaching/mentoring, prioritizations, performance evaluations, employee career development and retention, etc.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, including code reviews, critical escalations, and contributing to the long-term vision of the product’s architecture.
• Drive execution of the team's roadmap, aligning priorities and resources
• Develop deep product knowledge to מעparticipate in critical customer calls, addressing their concerns, and presenting solutions
• Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, Product Management, Support, and other interfaces.
• Communicate team progress, key milestones, potential risks and shifting priorities to senior leadership and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment and enabling timely decision-making

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in backend development (preferably in Java)
• 3+ years of experience in direct management of software developers.
• Extensive experience with large-scale enterprise systems, Microservices and distributed systems
• Experience in direct interaction with enterprise customers, including technical discussions and issue resolution
• Wide experience in development tools, methods, and processes
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and inspire teams, manage conflicts effectively, and build strong, collaborative relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
• Strong communication skills in Hebrew & English (spoken & written)

Nice to Have:

• Exposure to event-driven architecture and stream processing systems (Kafka, Redis)
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SaaS products
