Research Engineer, Flood Forecasting

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Python, C, C++, JavaScript), or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
• 2 years of experience developing or launching products or technologies within Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning (AI or ML).
• Experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and with software design and architecture.
• Experience with push notifications and subscriptions.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 2 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
• Experience working with one or more of the following: development of large software systems, building and maintaining production infrastructure, participation in on-call rotations, designing and developing APIs and integrations.
• Experience developing accessible technologies and in a technical leadership role.
• Familiarity with Machine Learning production infrastructure.
• Ability to exhibit Proactivity and Self-Initiative.

Responsibilities

• Write and test product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
