We are a fast-growing ClimateTech startup pioneering a breakthrough electrochemical carbon capture technology designed to remove CO₂ from both industrial emissions and ambient air. Our modular, solvent-free, and heat-free solution is built for gigaton-scale CO₂ removal by 2040, using low-cost, mass-manufacturable materials.
As we scale toward commercialization, we are seeking a highly driven and experienced R&D leader to take our core technology to the next level.
Role Overview
The Head of R&D is a strategic and hands-on leadership role, responsible for driving the development and scale-up of our core electrochemical systems and materials. You will manage a growing multidisciplinary team and deliver key R&D milestones that are critical to our product roadmap and market success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, structure, and grow the company's cross-disciplinary R&D team
- Develop and execute the R&D roadmap in alignment with company strategy
- Oversee the design, implementation, and analysis of experiments across lab and field environments
- Advance electrochemical cell and material development, from lab-scale to pilot and commercial-scale systems
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and manufacturing teams to support integration and deployment
- Track emerging technologies and trends in electrochemistry, carbon capture, and climate tech
- Report progress to executive leadership, board members, and external partners as needed
Qualifications
Education:
- MSc or PhD in Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field (PhD preferred)
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on R&D experience in relevant domains, such as:
- Electrochemical system development
- Electrode materials and fabrication
- Coating or deposition processes
- Slurry/ink formulation and scale-up
- At least 5 years of experience in R&D leadership, with a strong track record of managing and mentoring technical teams
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a collaborative mindset
- Excellent technical problem-solving abilities and scientific rigor
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-phase R&D programs from concept to deployment
- Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate technical work into clear, actionable outcomes
