Helios is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of complex mechanical systems for lab-scale and pilot systems. These systems include high-temperature reactors, thermal assemblies, piping networks, stirring mechanisms, and mechanical interfaces such as flanges, valves, and seals. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers to bring innovative systems to life.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software.

• Develop and detail process system designs including piping layouts, instrumentation, and

support structures.

• Assemble and test prototypes, ensuring they meet design specifications.

• Perform hands-on troubleshooting and optimization of mechanical systems.

• Perform mechanical and thermal analysis to ensure system integrity and reliability.

• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate with electrical, chemical, and process engineers to ensure full system integration.

• Coordinate with external engineering firms and vendors to develop and procure custom

equipment, including chemical reactors and pressure systems, and to review and validate

their technical proposals and system designs.

• Address mechanical design challenges and provide innovative solutions to improve product

performance.

Required Qualifications:

• B.Sc. or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical system design, preferably in R&D or

hardware-intensive environments.

• Proven track record of successful mechanical design and development.

• Strong command of CAD software, including detailed drawing for CNC,

sheet metal, and welded assemblies.

• Hands-on experience with testing, tools, prototyping methods, and workshop practices.

• Strong team player with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.

• Professional level English, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience designing and integrating process systems with components such as piping,

valves, gauges, flanges, seals, and instrumentation, alongside specifying and

incorporating chemical reactors and pressure vessels.

• Familiarity with vacuum system design and integration.

• Comfortable reviewing third-party engineering documentation and managing technical

interfaces with vendors.

• Familiarity with relevant mechanical codes and industry standards (e.g., ASME, ISO).

• Experience in scaling up technology from lab to pilot or industrial systems.
