Network Threat Researcher - Student Position

This is a research-focused student position, ideal for those who are passionate about network security, enjoy deep-dive investigations into network protocols, and want to work on creating real-world protections against cyber threats.

As part of your role, you will Analyse vulnerabilities, network communications, and attack methods – and contribute to the creation of security signatures and detections that protect Check Point customers worldwide.

Availability: 3 workdays per week is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth research of network-based threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
• Investigate network protocols and communication patterns (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, SMB, FTP).
• Write network-level detections and protections, and contribute to real-time defense mechanisms.
• Monitor emerging threats and trends across the internet and apply findings to improve protection coverage.
• Collaborate with a professional team of researchers focused on real-time threat mitigation and detection quality.
  
  

• B.Sc. student in Computer Science, Software/Communication Engineering, or another exact science field with strong programming or networking background.
• At least 2 years of studies remaining –beneficial.
• Availability for at least 3 shifts per week – must.
• In-depth knowledge of networking and communication protocols – required.
• Strong interest in defensive cyber security and threat research – must.
• Previous experience or academic work in cyber defense / network security – advantage.
• Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python) – advantage.
• Fluent English – required.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and curious by nature.
