Protocol Engineer (EVM)
We're seeking an experienced Protocol Engineer with deep expertise in the execution layer and protocol engineering, particularly with Reth and Ethereum ecosystem.
About Us
We're a venture-backed startup founded by technologists from MIT, Columbia, Google, Ethereum Foundation, Polygon, and more.
The team is launching the first of its kind Layer 1 blockchain, which leverages the next deep-tech technologies.
The Ideal Candidate
Seasoned EVM engineer with deep knowledge of opcodes, gas mechanics, precompiles, and execution model. Hands-on experience with Ethereum clients (ideally Reth), Engine API, and state transition. Comfortable modifying low-level protocol code and designing custom execution logic. Focus on execution-layer innovation and performance; consensus engine experience a plus.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Rust with focus on protocol-level engineering
- Deep understanding of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), including opcode behavior, gas mechanics, and precompiles
- Experience working with or modifying an Ethereum execution client (e.g., Reth, Geth)
- Solid grasp of Ethereum’s state transition function and Engine API
Bonus Points For
- Contributions to Reth or other Ethereum client codebases
- Experience with custom EVM logic, such as adding opcodes or modifying gas metering
- Cryptographic background
- Background in consensus protocols (e.g., HotStuff, Tendermint)
