Plant Technical Manager

** This position required immigration to Auengrund Thuringia, Germany.

Responsible for all process and maintenance duties including repairs, preventive and predictive maintenance activities for all production activities and equipment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Leadership

• Actively contributes to the plant strategic vision as part of the plant leadership team.
• Develops the budget to support maintenance objectives and exceed AOP commitments.
• Drives for world class quality and safety utilizing root cause corrective action methodology.
• Formulates and installs standard procedures and plans based on comparative analyses, methods, and costs.
• Creates a work environment conducive to employee morale and motivation to accomplish performance objectives.
• Develops, organizes, and implements plans to effectively utilize technical and engineering resources to achieve goals and objectives, and cost reduction plans
• Ensures Maintenance Team supports both Preventative Maintenance through analysis, planning and scheduling and Reactive Maintenance through a rapid response team and support for continuous improvements
• Actively manages contracts for outsourced activities, ensures purchased services are meeting expectations and that value is being achieved
• Maintains a high performance Maintenance team through effective communication, goal setting, coaching and mentoring, skills development
• Drives broader functional knowledge expertise and learning through the organization.
• Understands and drives adherence to established quality, health, safety and environmental systems

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the launch, tracking and production validation of new high and low volume custom automotive products.
• Attends customer design development pre-launch meetings, attends internal project meetings, hold design and project status meetings
• Manages plant tooling repair and new tooling launch activities
• Manages plant equipment maintenance
• Develops and manages systems for process technicians for startup, shut down, and troubleshooting equipment
• Develops and manages systems for TPM on all tooling and fixtures
• Develops and manages systems for TPM on all plant and processing equipment
• Maintains and issues daily work plan
• Investigates high scrap areas and initiate corrective action with assistance of Plant Manager
• Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
• Recommends maintenance outsourcing to the Plant Manager for repair or maintenance of machines, molds, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
• Ensures purchasing of new equipment is coordinated with the HQ.
• Coordinates maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
• Completes preventive maintenance checks for machines and auxiliary equipment
• Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
• Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with Plant Manager.
• Submits electronic Purchase Order requisitions for maintenance services, tools, equipment, and supplies, required for operations
• Confers with Plant Manager, engineering, and quality personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
• Provides engineering and technical support in safety and quality, improves efficiency, and creates safe manufacturing environment
• Other duties as assigned by Plant Manager

Other responsibilities

• Ensures overall Building Maintenance requirements are fulfilled
• Responsible for maintaining IATF16949 compliance within the maintenance disciplines.
• Responsible for maintaining compliance within the manufacturing, maintenance, and material handling, material control disciplines when implemented by the organization.
• Responsible for maintaining safety, labor, and governmental compliance within the manufacturing, maintenance, and material handling disciplines

Competencies

• Excellent Leadership and communication skills
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
• Blue print reading (Electrical, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic)
• Knowledge of OHSA and MSDS
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Experience and Education

• Mechanical degree or skilled trade designation preferred
• Background in plastic injection molds, processes and equipment - a must
