Terahertz waves occupy a less-explored region of the electromagnetic spectrum. ejider Israel leverages their unique properties to develop innovative and transformative solutions.

Unlike conventional technologies such as X-rays, infrared (IR), or MRI, terahertz waves offer high precision, rapid scanning capabilities, and non-invasive detection, requiring minimal material to identify and sense targets.

About the Role

We are seeking a VP R&D to spearhead the development of advanced multidisciplinary systems combining electro-optics, embedded systems, and high-speed data technologies. This position demands both strategic leadership and deep technical involvement — with a clear expectation of hands-on contributions during the first 12 months while building and scaling the R&D organization.

The ideal candidate will bring proven experience designing complex systems, a solid foundation in phase correction techniques (PLL, Lock-in detection), and the curiosity and courage to explore uncharted technological territories — boldly tackling complex problems where no clear solution exists. Prior experience in the THz region is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

System Architecture & Integration

• Lead the design and integration of electro-optical systems, including lasers (780 nm / 1550 nm), optical couplers, stretchers, fiber optics, and opto-mechanical assemblies.
• Architect embedded solutions capable of handling ultra-high data throughput (>5 GB/s) for real-time and near-real-time applications.
• Ensure robust integration of hardware, firmware, and software to achieve high system performance and reliability.
• Apply phase correction techniques (PLL, Lock-in detection) to enhance signal acquisition and stability.

Hands-On Technical Leadership and teamwork(Critical in First 12 Months)

• Engage directly in coding, soldering, system prototyping, mechanical assembly, integration, and debugging.
• Lead the design and implementation of embedded software, APIs, FPGA logic, and high-speed data pipelines.
• Deliver functional prototypes while establishing best-in-class development practices.
• Lead by example

R&D Department Build-Out

• Build and scale a multidisciplinary R&D organization, establishing design methodologies, requirements engineering, and risk management processes.
• Manage subcontractors, vendors, and technology partners, ensuring alignment with technical and business objectives.
• Oversee structured design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and ensure alignment with product roadmaps.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure development processes comply with ISO 13485 or equivalent standards where applicable.
• Implement quality management systems (e-QMS) to support structured and traceable development activities.

Frontier Technology Leadership

• Drive R&D efforts into uncharted technological territories, addressing highly complex challenges often lacking well-established solutions.
• Maintain a mindset of scientific rigor combined with innovation, exploring concepts at the edge of current knowledge (including in the THz region where applicable).
• Identify and adopt emerging technologies in opto-mechanics, high-speed embedded systems, and signal processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related field (PhD preferred).
• Extensive hands-on expertise in:
• Electro-optics: lasers (780 nm / 1550 nm), optical couplers, fiber optics, opto-mechanical systems.
• Embedded systems: FPGA, microcontrollers, real-time OS, ultra-high data rate architectures (>5 GB/s).
• Hardware prototyping: soldering, mechanical assembly, system integration, testing.
• Phase correction techniques: PLL, Lock-in detection (highly desired).
• Prior experience or exposure to THz systems / technologies (advantageous).
• Demonstrated success in building R&D teams and leading complex, multidisciplinary projects.
• Proficiency in C, C++, Python, MATLAB, API design, and high-speed data handling.
• Familiarity with ISO 13485 or similar regulated development environments (requirement).
• Willingness and ability to engage hands-on during the first 12 months while building the R&D team.
