DBA – Data Migrations & Analytics Infrastructure

We're looking for a highly skilled Senior DBA to take charge of our evolving data infrastructure as we scale across multiple platforms and products in the iGaming and sports betting space.

You'll lead data migrations (MariaDB to BigQuery/others), architect and administer Cube.js and BI connections (Metabase, Power BI), and manage ETLs and permissions across our growing datasets.

Your mission: optimize, secure, and future-proof our data stack while enabling actionable insights for decision- makers.

Responsibilities

• Lead database migrations from MariaDB to BigQuery (and other analytical DBs).
• Design and maintain scalable data warehouse schemas to support both OLTP and OLAP workloads.
• Work closely with DevOps and Backend to ensure zero-downtime migrations.
• Administer and optimize Cube.js setup for semantic modeling.
• Ensure seamless connectivity to Metabase, Power BI, and other data exploration tools.
• Build reusable data cubes for self-serve reporting and real-time dashboards.
• Own the full lifecycle of ETL pipelines, from ingestion to transformation and sync.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to build event-driven or scheduled ETLs.
• Document and monitor all pipelines for failures, latency, and data drift.
• Design and enforce granular permission structures for tables (e.g., excluding players from BI tools).
• Manage user roles and access rights across dev, staging, and prod environments.
• Maintain security and compliance with data privacy regulations (GDPR, etc.).
• Continuously monitor query performance, replication health, and index usage.
• Partner with IT and DevOps to automate alerts and logs using monitoring tools.
• Conduct regular capacity planning and performance tuning across all environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience with MariaDB/MySQL and cloud-native data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, etc.).
• Deep knowledge of Cube.js or similar semantic data layers.
• Expertise in ETL/ELT design, preferably with tools like Airflow, Fivetran, or custom PHP/Python solutions.
• Strong skills in SQL optimization, index strategies, and query profiling.
• Familiarity with Metabase, Power BI, and data visualization tooling.
• Comfortable with Linux server administration, persistence layer design, and automated backup & restore strategies.
• Experience with data governance, auditing, and permissioning best practices.

Bonus Points:

• Experience in iGaming / Sports Betting platforms.
• Familiarity with data regulations in Canada, Europe, or LATAM.
• Background in real-time analytics and streaming data processing.
