Director of Finance

We are seeking an experienced and driven Director of Finance to serve as the CFO’s right hand at a dynamic, fast-paced family investment office. This is a critical role that will oversee and drive financial reporting, controls, and performance analysis across a diverse portfolio of trading, brokerage, and banking-related investments. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned finance professional who thrives in a demanding environment, demonstrates deep financial acumen, and has a relentless commitment to drive results.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

• Operate as the second-in-command to the CFO, with ownership of core financial operations and team performance.
• Serve as a point of contact for the finance teams of investment entities, developing collaborative and accountable relationships.
• Provide critical analysis, insight, and commentary to support high-level decision-making.

Accounting & Controls Oversight

• Lead and manage the accounting team; manage daily operations and ensure high standards of performance and accuracy.
• Own and optimize the month-end and quarter-end close processes across multiple entities and investment types.
• Establish and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.

Management & Investor Reporting

• Prepare, review, and enhance internal management reporting packages.
• Drive monthly and quarterly performance reviews, surfacing key risks and opportunities.
• Deliver clear, actionable reporting and insights to internal stakeholders, with a relentless push for accuracy and timeliness.

Portfolio Monitoring & Analysis

• Actively engage with the finance teams of trading, brokerage, and banking investment entities to scrutinize results and key metrics.
• Conduct performance reviews, assess risks, and challenge assumptions to drive accountability.
• Track capital allocations, returns, liquidity, and performance metrics on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience in investment management, trading, or banking environments.
• Demonstrated experience managing a team, improving close/reporting processes, and working across complex entity structures.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with modern accounting/reporting systems.
